Thievery Corporation Releases 2017 Album: “The Temple of I & I”

Thievery Corporation has had a special place in my heart for over fifteen years. I feel in love with their downtempo, bossa nova vibe in 2000 and kept listening as their sound weave and bop throughout their creative arch ever since. Thier latest album, dropping today, is heavily influenced by Jamaican sound. “The Temple of I and I  is Thievery Corporation’s 8th studio album, and another re-affirmation of the electronic duo’s place as one of the most ambitious and creative projects in the electronic producer/DJ world. Recorded in Port Antonio, Jamaica, The Temple of I and I reflects the dub, reggae, and roots music of the country, while still exhibiting the signature cohesive eclecticism expected of Thievery Corporation, with influences of hip-hop, space rock, and dub throughout.”

Thievery Corporation is a band that can grow with you. They change their sound ever so slightly to match, what I imagine, is the elements of music that they are most interested in at the time. There is an underlying heartbeat that you can feel from album to album, but you can also hear a new aspect, or side, of the duo shine through each album.

I bought my first Thievery album in 2000 but it wasn’t until 2014 that I was finally able to see them perform live. The amount of musicians that this band travels with and the effort that they put into a live show is awe-inspiring. There aren’t many musicians like Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. If you have any affection for quality music created by musicians that harbor a strong affection for and dedication to the perseverance of hip-shaking, sexy, and ground-breaking sound then I highly encourage you to purchase their latest album, The Temple of I & I.

If you are lucky enough to be living in a city, or traveling through a city, where they are performing–GO SEE THEM. Each track is more magnificent than the last. And you will never regret seeing this band perform.
